BY HOOK OR BY CROOK, LEARNING TO CROCHET

I’ve never really been a knitter, but with help from my friends at Wool and the Gang (and my mum) I’ve been learning to crochet … Meet Alpacino!  Yup, I made him all by myself, you can tell because his legs are accidentally inside out …

Making Alpacino for my #MadeWithMolly Challenge

Wool & The Gang’s kits are a bit of a treat.  They arrive in a personalised box and a cool looking bag … and the wool … it’s called ‘Crazy Sexy Wool’ and it is just that – it’s SO thick and soft.  It also comes with a lovely wooden crochet hook and other useful bits and bobs – i’m such a sucker for things like this!

Once I’d mastered the dreaded magic loop (it took a while!) and got properly started I couldn’t put it down – Crochet’s really quite quick and also brilliantly relaxing and addictive.

If you’re a beginner and want to learn how to crochet this month Wool & The Gang is a great place to start.  Check out their blog post Crochet: The Low-down, they’ve also got some brilliant kits on offer (including Alpacino) as well as loads of YouTube tutorials, just in case you get stuck…

If you have a shot at crochet this month, I’d love to see what you make!   Share images of your wooly success using the hashtag #MadeWithMolly and tag us @mollyandthewolf.  Here’s our Crochet Pinterest board to get you in the mood …

I’m also always on the hunt for inspiration, so if you have any crochet tips – from amazing wool shop discoveries through to great kits, tutorials and workshops you’ve tried, I’d love to know your favourites.
